About 10 years ago I became the mother to a beautiful black lab named Leila. Since the day she came into my life I had been trying to find the perfect collar and accessories that would make people see that she was in fact a girl and not a boy.
To my surprise, it was even harder than expected to find something "girly" but also in my price range. Everything that screamed GIRL was either too expensive or was far too boring for my taste...and Leila's, of course.
So in 2010 I decided to give collar making a go. I had just started my first teaching job and was looking for a creative outlet to come home to at the end of the night. Much to my surprise, my family and friends were loving what I was coming up with so I decided to introduce my product to the rest of the world.
Since then, the rest, as they say, is history. I've since added bow tie, collar flowers and dog waste bag dispensers. I have also created collars and accessories out of recycled materials such as shirts and window treatments.
In early 2014, seeing the need for more organic, earth-friendly pet products, I launced the new "Organic Collection."
What is that you say? What do I do when I'm not teaching or making pet products? Well, in early 2011 we decided to add two new bundles of joy to our fur family, Gunnar and Cooper. We are extremely active with our dogs so if we aren't out at a show for Four Black Paws or working around the house, we are out doing competitions such as dock jumping, weight pull and conformation with them along with a little hunting here and there.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit Four Black Paws!
We appreciate you!
